Moïra Fowley

author | artist | tarot reader

she/her

Moïra Fowley is a critically acclaimed bestselling author, tarot-reader and part-time witch. She is half-Irish, half-French and lives in Dublin where she writes queer fiction and raises witch babies.

Moïra has been reading tarot for twenty-three years and is currently designing Two Faced Tarot: a queer, inclusive tarot deck and workbook. Her readings focus on the stories written in the cards and how they reflect what is present in people’s lives.

Give yourself the gift of gentle insight

I am not psychic, I am not a medium, I can not tell the future. My focus as a tarot reader is on you, on what is present in your life, where you are held back, and the direction you want to go. Choice, agency and self-knowledge are important elements of my readings.

Calling on my twenty-one years’ experience and study of the tarot, as well as my natural intuition, open curiosity and genuine interest in people, I’ll tell you what I see in the cards. Your mind will instinctively apply what I read to your life. I like to think of tarot readings as being like dream interpretation: your mind will do most of the work. Whatever rings true for you is what’s present and important in your life. Sometimes you will surprise yourself by what comes up.

If you have a question you’d like the reading to focus on I will work within that, but please know that there are some questions that I won’t take on or try to answer. I will, however, focus in my reading on the deeper issue behind the question.

My readings may bring up thoughts, feelings, issues or memories that you might not have been expecting. Please remember to mind yourself after any work like this. Whatever comes up for you during a reading is important: let it settle. However, I am not a doctor or a therapist. If you are having difficulties please seek out professional help.

    What to expect

    Email readings:

When your reading is booked I will email my reading to you, including pictures of the spread, explaining what each card means for you and why. I encourage you to take time and make space to read the email: turn your phone on silent, sit in a quiet space, make yourself a cup of tea and ground yourself with a simple breathing exercise before diving in.

    In person readings:

When your reading is booked I will email to confirm the location where we will meet on the time and day you've chosen from my calendar. This will be a table in a quiet café in Dublin city centre where you can have a cup of tea and have a comfortable reading without being overheard. If you would prefer bring a friend with you that's no problem. When we meet I will greet you and guide you to be present, then invite you to ask a question, if you have one, or to hold what’s present with you in mind while I shuffle the cards. I will ask you to cut the deck (separate the cards into two or three stacks) to give your energy to the reading, then I will explain the spread as I lay the cards down, and will explain their meanings and how the themes or issues they represent affect you.

    Video call readings:

When your reading is booked I will send you a Zoom link for the time and day you’ve chosen from my calendar. When we meet I will greet you and guide you to be present through gentle breathing, then invite you to ask a question, if you have one, or to hold what’s present with you in mind while I shuffle the cards. I will explain the spread as I lay the cards down, and will explain their meanings and how the themes or issues they represent affect you.
